Do any of you as ministers have your leaders sign covenants to make sure your church leaders are on the same page in regards to doctrine, conduct, leadership, etc. If so, do you have a copy you would be willing to share or input on what should be in there?
Thanks

Matt, I've never tried to use a covenant with church leaders. Job descriptions for paid staff, yes (but not always), but leadership covenants, no. At times I've used covenants, e.g., a) with volunteer Sunday school teachers in order to have them make an annual commitment or to agree to fulfill certain responsibilities; and b) membership covenants, but whether it has something to do with the areas that I've served; the particular churches that I've pastored; or my methodology, well, it's been my experience that I get push back. Many don't want to sign the covenants. I've had some really faithful folks over the years who loved Jesus with all their heart and loved our church, but when presented with a covenant, they begin to drag their feet and make excuses. Has anyone else experienced the same? Or has it worked great for you? - Daniel
