How do you think Elohim is used in Psalm 14:1? And, how do you translate the entire verse?

Literally, "A fool said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They perverted. They made abominable a deed. There is no doing good." Perhaps, "A fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They have perverted. They have done an abominable deed. There is not one who does good."

Hi Rich - I actually have another question about Elohim! But here are the verses that use the same construction as Ps 14:1 - אֵ֣ין אֱלֹהִ֑ים I think the fool is declaring himself to be an atheist in Ps 14:1.
2Kgs 5:15 And he returned to the man of God, he and all his aides, and came and stood before him; and he said, “Indeed, now I know that [there is] no God in all the earth, except in Israel; now therefore, please take a gift from your servant.” NKJV
Ps 10:4 The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek [God;] God [is] in none of his thoughts. NKJV
Ps 14:1 THE fool has said in his heart, “[There is] no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good. NKJV
Ps 53:1 THE fool has said in his heart, [“There is] no God.” They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; [There is] none who does good. NKJV
Isa 44:6 “Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘I [am] the First and I [am] the Last; Besides Me [there is] no God. NKJV
Isa 45:5 I [am] the LORD, and [there is] no other; [There is] no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, NKJV
My question has to do with לֵֽאלֹהִ֔ים which appears 78x in the OT, and always refers to God or gods in every verse in the KJV except Jonah 3:4 where it is translated "exceedingly" and is also given the same translation or something similar in every major translation! Why??? God calls Nineveh a "great city" in 4:11, so it was a great city to him. Wouldn't "to God" fit in 3:4 just fine? I guess I find it interesting when I feel I have to disagree with all the major translations! :-)

Just saw your post. Here is my 1-minute midnight thought before being away from my computer for four days. The Hebrew literally reads that Nineveh was "important to God." I'm with you, my friend!
