I was ministering to someone who is on the fence regarding Christianity. I'd like to get some suggestions as to what resources I could recommend to this person so they can get more information about Christianity. A book, website, or any other resource that would give a great overview of Christianity would be appreciated as well as a recommended study bible and what books to begin with from the Bible.

The case for Christ by lee strobel has been a book I have used before. I think there are others on different topics by him as well. I like using William Lane Craig's website. Reasonable Faith. I have found many useful articles there on a wide range of topics. Hope this helps.

John, the book that I mentioned by phone is "The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus." See www.goodseed.com/the-stranger-on-the-road-to-emmaus.htmlI know pastors who have used this book for evangelistic Bible studies where they would meet for 15 weeks and read through one chapter each week with the group. It comes with a workbook of questions. I've given it as a gift to several, and right now I'm even going through it with my 9-year old son who is a bit above average in reading and can track most of what he's reading.

Thank you both so much for your recommendations. Enjoyed the reasonablefaith.org website !!! As for the book "The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus" there's an interactive edition that comes with a DVD, is the DVD worthwhile or should I just stick with the workbook?

I've never used the DVD so can't say. If you ever decide to use the DVD, then let me know how it works. I'm sure somewhere down the road I'll want to do that study again.
Also, I'd love to see a custom avatar for you. I get a hoot out of them for some reason. - Daniel

I would suggest a book by David Noebel, "Understanding the Times." This book is very clear about the 6 competing world views. In fact, it has an excellent chart in the front of the book that contrast each one side-by-side. Ultimately, there are only two competing world views that believe in a supernatural god. Besides our view, there is Islam. Every time I have talked with a muslim I bring up the "origins" of our faith. Our origins derive from over 40 different authors as opposed to their 1 author/claim. Along the same path, they always cringe when we innate how new their faith is in comparison to ours. The redundancy alone of Christianity deriving from over 40 different authors, over a 1500 year span of time, and separated by 3 continents are more likely to be accepted by someone initiating their truth search than any other worldview and/or religion.
I'm sure your aware of the origins already but I am simply throwing out a reminder.
…I need to change my avatar, lol… Jimmy

The book I mentioned is more of an overview of the Bible that presents a unified story of salvation. I've used it for an evangelistic Bible study group or for a group of new believers. I haven't read the books suggested by Jimmy and Carl, but they sound like they would be better for someone who has more global questions or who is comparing Christianity with other religions. Thanks for the suggestions!
Jimmy, don't forget to go to the "Welcome" board and participate in the poll "Tell us where you're from."
